How to Support a Crisis Pregnancy Centre or Mothers Near You
This Sanctity Life Sunday ( last Sunday in January every year) why not bring attention to and raise support for a Crisis Pregnancy Centre, Mothers' Home or Baby Home in your area?
Love Them Both
Christian, pro-life Crisis Pregnancy Centres are in most major cities in South Africa. They provide pre and post abortion counselling and many provide practical support to women throughout their pregnancy. They help women to explore their alternatives to abortion, explain the gestational development of the baby - sometimes showing ultrasound imagery, if they have the equipment, and the possible physical and psychological consequences of abortion for the mother.
Mothers' Homes provide accommodation for women facing a crisis pregnancy. Some also offer job skills development.
Baby Homes care for abandoned or orphaned babies.
Adoption Agencies find suitable families for children to be adopted into.
Why not volunteer your time or skills or donate baby items to a centre near you?
If you want to start a Pregnancy Centre or are interested in becoming a crisis pregnancy counsellor contact Africa Cares for Life for info on training sessions.

Doctors for Life - Operation Life Child Centres
Operation Life Child provides care within different communities to orphans and vulnerable children by giving them food, education, clothing, medical care and a sound Christian foundation. The children are equipped with the emotional, spiritual and physical skills that enable them to be productive members of society.
Doctors for Life currently has 25 Orphan and Vulnerable Children Centres (OVC) looking after 244 children in six of the nine provinces of South Africa. These OVC centres are made up 15 Foster Care Homes and 10 Care Centres. All of the OVC centres are based in rural areas and care for children within that area. In the case of the Foster Care homes, children are cared for by a family and Operation Life Child provides funding for their upkeep. As more orphans are identified within the community, the foster care homes develop into Care centres.
The care centres are responsible for up to 50 children. The children live with a member of either their family or of the community and attend the centre for all of their meals daily. OLC also provides for their education, clothing, medical needs and any additional up bringing costs. The care centre also acts as a halfway house for vulnerable children that have nowhere else to go. They are cared for at the centre on a temporary basis until suitable accommodation can be found for them within the community. In some cases, the Care Centres have grown into orphanages because of the sheer need within the community.
It costs just R150 a month to sponsor an orphan. Alternatively you can make a once off donation. Click here for more info.
"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, 'But we knew nothing about this', does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will not He repay each one according to what he has done?" Proverbs 24:11-12
